PEPCO Superchargers for
Crosley & VW Engines
The Progressive Engine Products
Company, Inc. (P E P C O) designed and marketed PEPCO
supercharger kits in the United States beginning around 1950
for Volkswagen and Crosley engines. These roots type blowers
were simple, efficient, reliable and designed to rev up to
8000 rpm. Employees at Lou Fageol's Porsche dealership,
Emmer Kelley and Arthur Hilf designed and put into
production these wonderful compressors. Shortly after their
introduction, PEPCO superchargers were manufactured and
distributed by Fageol Products Co., 789 Stow St., Kent,
Ohio (also shown as Akron, Ohio on some parts and
literature.)
Produced in two sizes, the smaller size
was designed for Crosley and VW engines. The Crosley
compressor is easily identified by the long tapered snout
between the compressor body and the pulley. The VW unit was
shorter as it did not need the extended snout to fit on a VW
engine.
A larger PEPCO supercharger was also
available that was designed for MG's and some Porsche
engines.
